MyBibleSpark (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a daily Bible companion for iOS and Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

We do not collect your location, and we never see or store your payment card details.
Using the App Without an Account
You do not need an account to use MyBibleSpark. When you request your first passage, you can choose Continue as guest instead of signing in, and you can keep using the app that way indefinitely — including subscribing, if you choose to.
Continuing as a guest creates an anonymous identifier for you through Firebase Authentication, a service operated by Google. It contains no name, no email address, and nothing else that identifies you personally; its only purpose is to apply your daily passage limit and any subscription you buy to you rather than to someone else. Nobody, ourselves included, can use it to work out who you are.
While you are a guest, your passages are not saved. Nothing is written to a history on our server, and there is nothing to sync between your devices or to recover after reinstalling. That is the trade: signing in is what buys a saved history.
If you later sign in, we join your guest identifier to your new account wherever we can, so that a subscription you bought as a guest and the passages you have already used today carry over rather than being lost.
Account and Sign-In
Signing in is optional. If you want your passage history saved and available on every device you use, you can create an account with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. Account authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication, a service operated by Google.
Depending on which provider you use and the choices you make during sign-in:
- Sign in with Apple shares your name and either your real email address or an Apple-generated private relay address, depending on whether you choose to hide your email.
- Sign in with Google shares the name and email address associated with your Google account.
We use this solely to identify your account, secure it against being used by anyone else, and enforce your subscription’s daily passage limit. We do not use it for marketing and do not share it with advertisers.
How We Use Your Information
The mood, goal, translation, and recent-reference data listed above are sent to our server to generate your personalized daily Bible passage. This request is forwarded to Anthropic, PBC (“Claude AI”), a third-party artificial intelligence provider. The passage that comes back is then saved to your account history along with the mood, goal, and translation that produced it, as described under “Saved Passage History” below. The recent-reference list is used only for that request and is not retained. Anthropic may process this data according to its own Privacy Policy. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with any third party other than the service providers described in this policy.
Third-Party AI Service (Anthropic)
MyBibleSpark uses the Claude API, operated by Anthropic, PBC, to generate scripture passages and reflections. When you request a passage, the following non-identifying inputs are sent: your selected mood, spiritual goal, preferred translation, and a short list of recent Bible references. No device identifiers or personal details are included in this request.
Anthropic’s data practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.
Saved Passage History
This applies only if you have an account. If you are using the app as a guest, no passage history is created for you: our server does not write your passages anywhere, and a request for a history from a guest returns nothing because there is nothing to return.
Your passage history is stored on our server under your account, so that it is there when you sign in on a new phone or reinstall the app. Each entry holds the passage itself — its reference, text, the explanation of why it was chosen, and its reflection question — along with the mood and spiritual goal you selected that day, the translation, and the date. These entries are linked to your account identifier.
If you had passages saved on your device from before this feature existed, the app uploads that existing history to your account once, the first time you sign in after updating. This is a one-time transfer of passages already stored on your phone; nothing new is collected from you to do it.
History is kept until you delete it. Deleting your account, as described under “Data Retention and Deletion” below, permanently deletes your entire saved history from our server. Your history is readable only by you: our server returns it only to a request carrying a valid sign-in token for your own account, and our database rules block any other route to it. We do not use your history for advertising or profiling, and it is not sent to Anthropic or any other third party.
Authentication and Account Storage (Firebase)
We use Firebase, a service operated by Google, to authenticate you — whether you sign in with Apple or Google, or continue as a guest, which Firebase calls anonymous authentication — and to store your account-linked records on our server: your account identifier, your saved passage history if you have an account, and a count of how many passages you have requested today. The daily count resets daily and is automatically deleted within about 48 hours of being created.
We also store a separate, device-linked request count keyed to your device identifier rather than your account. It caps how many passages can be generated on a single device each day — a ceiling set above the per-account daily limit, so that ordinary sharing of one device is unaffected, but the limit cannot be multiplied by signing in and out with different accounts on the same phone. This device-linked count is not tied to your account identity, is not affected by account deletion, and is automatically deleted within about 48 hours of being created.
Google’s data practices are governed by their Privacy Policy and Firebase’s privacy and security documentation.
Subscription Management (RevenueCat)
We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage subscription entitlements across the App Store and Google Play. Your account identifier and subscription status are shared with RevenueCat so the app can determine which features and daily limits apply to you. RevenueCat’s data practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
MyBibleSpark offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions for expanded access. All payment transactions are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your payment card details.

Push Notifications
If you enable daily reminders, the app schedules a local notification entirely on your device. No notification content is sent from a remote server, and no device token or notification identifier is transmitted to us or any third party. You can disable notifications at any time in the app’s Settings screen or in your device’s system notification settings.
Data Retention and Deletion
On-device data (cached passages and preferences) is stored in your device’s local storage. You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling does not delete the copy of your history saved to your account — that is what lets it come back when you reinstall — so use Delete Account below if you want it removed.
Your account — your Firebase sign-in record, your saved passage history, your daily usage count, and your RevenueCat subscriber record — can be permanently deleted at any time from within the app: go to Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account and everything listed above, and cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the email address below.
If you are using the app as a guest, there is no Delete Account option, because there is no account and no saved history to delete — all that exists is your anonymous identifier and its daily usage count, and that count is deleted automatically within about 48 hours. We deliberately leave the option out rather than offer it, because deleting a guest identifier would also erase the only record connecting you to a subscription you may still be paying for, with no account to sign back into and recover it. If you want your guest identifier removed anyway, email us at the address below and we will delete it — cancel any active subscription with Apple or Google first.
Deleting your account does not cancel an active auto-renewing subscription — Apple and Google, not us, control that billing relationship. To stop being charged, cancel your subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings before or after deleting your account.
Children’s Privacy
MyBibleSpark is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us so we can address it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
